Are Adanola leggings really worth the hype? I wanted to write this Adanola leggings review because I’ve seen the sportswear brand doing the rounds amongst Instagram influencers and I’ll admit it, I got influenced. They looked great and the price point is good.
But, I’m always skeptical about influencer-promoted brands. As a fashion journalist, I know how the world of marketing works, and I wondered if as soon as their follower’s backs were turned, they took off the leggings never to put them back on again. I decided to investigate.
What is Adanola?
With 268,000 followers, Adanola describes itself as clothes to suit an ‘everyday active lifestyle’. It’s owned by Josh and Hyrum Cook and after a bit of digging (this information isn’t available on the website) I discovered that they presented their idea on Dragon’s Den back in 2015, after successfully presenting the dragons with a separate idea in 2014 which was backed by Deborah Meaden.
Adanola was a blog owned by Hyrum Cook for six years before it turned into the athleisure brand we know today. It’s best sellers include leggings, tank tops, sweatpants and sweatshirts and socks.
It has a very Kendall Jenner running errands around LA look about it. I mean that in the nicest way. It’s an it brand, like Varley and Les Tiens. It has stormed into the luxury athleisure market at a time when we’re all desperate to dress in nothing but leggings, but it has done it at such a great price point, we can’t help but take a look.
Adanola leggings are probably the most popular item you can buy on the website. Available in 19 colours and coming in at just £39.99, they’re hard to beat.
Available in 7/8 (regular) fit or a tall fit, they’re designed using a four-way stretch material with no front seam (aka, no camel toe). They come with a high waist which accentuates your body and makes you feel comfortable when you’re working out or just living your day-to-day life in them.
My Adanola leggings review
I am fully sold. I spent the entire weekend in Center Parcs running after a 15-month-old crazy toddler in them. After playing badminton, I played squash. I put them on after swimming (the ultimate comfort test) and walked around and relaxed, albeit momentarily, in them.
Having spent money on Sweaty Betty, Nike, Adidas, Spiritual Gangster, Marks & Spencer etc. leggings before, these ticked every single box.
Unlike Adidas’ options, they are thick and no matter how many squats you do, nobody is going to see your underwear. Unlike Sweaty Betty, the material doesn’t make you feel like you’re a sausage tightly encased in the chip shop, waiting to be eaten. I’ll admit it, Nike’s leggings are great, but Adanola’s are better.
I bought them in a size medium, which was the perfect fit for me as a size 10. I loved them so much that after buying them in black, I’ve now got them in sea green.
I’ve also been influenced by the online photos into buying the cream Adanola socks to go with my New Balance trainers. I am a sucker for a decent pair of socks.
Here are the best bits of the Adanola leggings;
- Fits true to size
- Thick material that doesn’t show through to your underwear
- Good length
- No camel toe
- Can wear to exercise in as well as out and about
- No obvious branding
- Good range of colours
The Adanola range
Adanola sells more than just leggings, and I wanted to highlight some of my other favourites from the collection. As I mentioned, some of its outdoor wear has a Pangaia / Les Tiens feel about it, which I really love. And, the price point is much lower for equally good quality.
A lot of the oversized sweatshirts, £49.99 (shown below) are currently out of stock, but there’s an option to be notified when they’re back in stock, which I’ve signed myself up for.
I’m also a big fan of the socks – as shown above with New Balance trainers. The image above also shows the black Adanola leggings I bought, too.
Adanola’s new in range is looking great, too. It has major Yosemite in the spring vibes, with ‘Go Outside’ emblazoned oversized t-shirts and funnel neck half-zip hoodies (think: The & Other Stories half-zip phenomenon but make it athletic).
This influencer marketing skeptic is well and truly sold on Adanola. I’m already on the hunt for what else I can buy. Move over, Nike, there’s a new set of leggings in town.
