Happy New Year, everybody! I’ve read a lot of posts documenting goals and resolutions for 2018 and I’ve found them really inspiring, so I thought I’d throw mine into the mix. At the very least, this post should hold me accountable!
You can also view my 5 New Year’s Resolutions Hacks here. These are my hacks on how to stick to your resolutions all year – and beyond.
This year I’ve broken my goals down into sections. There are a lot of opinions in relation to the word ‘goals’. Some people say that always striving for something and setting yourself targets isn’t healthy. Personally, I think it depends on who you are as a person. If goals work well to motivate you, don’t be put off.
Career
My first career goal on 2018 is to start and maintain a YouTube channel. Please do subscribe to this if you’re a regular reader of my blog. I’ll be putting separate content on my YouTube channel and my blog so you won’t be getting double content.
Secondly, the #CarolineEdit newsletter is back! I started this last year and got an overwhelming response. But, with work responsibilities, wedding, Christmas etc. I found it hard to maintain this each week. Well, NO MORE EXCUSES. It’ll be back every Monday at 8am from Monday 8th January. Click here to subscribe. A little box should pop up that you can add your details in to.
And lastly, I’d like to finish my third book and have it sent out to publishers by the end of the year. It’s realistic; I’m already 30,000 words in. But, I have been commissioned to write a historical guidebook which I’m writing alongside it.
Wellbeing
Exercising three times per week is non-negotiable. I managed 2 times per week for *most* of 2017, but I know I can do more. I’m not exercising to lose weight, I just enjoy it. I’m a bit of an over-thinker at times and exercising helps to clear my mind.
I consider myself to be quite a healthy person but chocolate is my downfall. I eat it almost every day. I’m not going to ban myself from eating chocolate but I need to eat it less frequently and see it as a treat rather than an every day occurrence.
Finally, I’d like to go on more walks and spend a bit more time outside. I love working from home but it can mean you never leave the house. I’d like to remedy that in 2018.
Travel
I love travelling. We’re planning to move this year, so I’m not setting myself too many travel goals for 2018 as I don’t know what will be possible.
I do, however, want to see more of the UK – and Europe. It’s easy to opt for far flung places, and when the option is there, it’s very difficult to go for local over international. But, seeing as we’re moving, this year might provide us with a good excuse to stay in the UK/Europe and explore what’s on our doorstep a little bit more.
Lifestyle
If you’ve clicked onto my YouTube channel you may have noticed that the four headings in this post relate to the type of content I’m going to be putting on YouTube (how consistent of me).
Lifestyle – for me – means beauty, downtime, fun and personal growth (away from careers-based goals).
My beauty goals include keeping up with my near-perfect beauty routine in the evenings and mornings. I’ve perfected it over the last two months so I’m going to write a post on that really shortly. At almost-28, I’ve added a bit of anti-ageing (a real low dose of Retinol) into my routine, too.
Away from this, I’d like to plough a lot of time and energy into my house this year. I’d like to buy beautiful, one-off pieces for our new home and spend some time making it into the house I’ve always wanted.
I have loads of mood boards over on Pinterest if you’d like to take a look at my page.
